What Meta Digit Plexus connects
Meta FAIR describes Meta Digit Plexus as a standardized hardware-software platform for combining multiple tactile sensors on one robot hand. The company says the platform supports vision-based Digit and Digit 360 sensors alongside the skin-based ReSkin sensor across the fingertips, fingers and palm.
Control boards encode the sensor data for a host computer. Meta also says the hardware and software support data collection, control and analysis over a single cable.
Where Digit 360 fits
Digit 360 is one of the tactile sensors named in the Plexus design. Meta describes the fingertip sensor as a modular platform with a compliant hemispherical body and about 8.3 million taxels.
Meta reports that Digit 360 has more than 18 sensing features and can capture forces as small as 1 millinewton. Its optical system uses more than 8 million taxels to record deformations around the fingertip surface.
The announced modalities extend beyond contact shape. Meta says Digit 360 can sense vibration, heat and odor, while an on-device AI accelerator processes sensor information locally.
ROS 2 support belongs to Digit 360
The official Digit 360 repository documents a ROS 2 package. Its setup guide says the package provides an interface for publishing the different modalities produced by Digit 360, and the repository includes build instructions.
That software path is documented for Digit 360. The separate Plexus announcement describes the control boards, whole-hand sensor layout and single-cable connection that make up the broader integration platform.
ReSkin and the next Allegro Hand
Meta identifies ReSkin as the skin-based part of the supported sensor mix, while Digit and Digit 360 provide the vision-based sensing options. The company presented this combination as a way to collect tactile data from more than the fingertips alone.
Meta also said Wonik Robotics would manufacture and distribute a next-generation Allegro Hand built on the Plexus platform. The announcement described that hand as a tactile-sensor integration project.
For researchers evaluating the stack, the supported distinction is straightforward: Digit 360 has its own sensor specifications and ROS 2 package, while Meta Digit Plexus is the hand-level hardware-software platform that brings Digit, Digit 360 and ReSkin data together.
