What Feather sells
Feather Robotics’ robot costs $30,000, which TechCrunch reported is about half the price of Unitree’s H2 Edu.
The company has rolled out a modular system that lets developers customize the hardware for different uses, including changing arm lengths.
Feather says the hardware can run models from Nvidia, Skild or Physical Intelligence.
Early sales and deployments
The startup has begun selling the system and reported more than $1 million in revenue.
Feather has not named its customers, but the company told TechCrunch its robots are working as restaurant cooks and cleaning science laboratories.
Co-founder Hoa Mai said Feather has sold small quantities and resolved almost all issues found during a year of field testing. He said the company is preparing a larger product launch.
Gradient Ventures led Feather’s previously announced $7.6 million pre-seed round.
The platform ambition
Mai and co-founder Parsa Bakhtiari hope Feather will become the “Android of robotics.”
Gradient partner Darian Shirazi said Feather had no direct competitors in the United States. He also said he believed it was the only U.S. startup developing a modular humanoid platform.
Mai said he expects the number of physical-AI application companies to reach the thousands within five years. Feather hopes to supply the platform for those applications.
